The permaculture team at Playa Viva employs both local knowledge and scientific analysis to understand the geography, define carbon sequestration targets for Playa Viva's forests, and pick the most appropriate trees to introduce through reforestation. Playa Viva uses permaculture principles and reforestation through an agroforestry design lens to improve the soil's ability to retain water and begin to transform its sandy earth into microbial rich loamy soil that will benefit future generations.
